Description

🧪 Ingredients

Botanical Origin of Cypress Essential Oil

Young Living's Cypress essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the twigs, leaves, and cones of the Cupressus sempervirens tree, a cypress species native to the eastern Mediterranean region. This majestic, long-living tree has been valued since ancient times for its aromatic wood and resinous properties. It thrives in warm climates, and its essence is appreciated in various cultures for its connection to durability and grounding.

Main Chemical Composition

The chemical profile of Cypress essential oil is complex and rich in monoterpenes. Its main components include:

  • Alpha-pinene: A monoterpene with a fresh aroma and stimulating properties.

  • Delta-3-carene: Characterized by its sweet and woody aroma.

  • Limonene: Known for its citrus aroma and presence in many essential oils.

  • Cedrol: A sesquiterpene alcohol that contributes to the woody and fixative notes of the aroma.

This combination of compounds gives Cypress oil its distinctive aroma and particular characteristics in aromatherapy.

Aromatic Profile

Cypress essential oil is distinguished by its fresh, clean, woody, and slightly spicy aroma. It evokes the sensation of walking through a coniferous forest, with earthy notes that invite calm and a penetrating fragrance that may help clear the mind and foster an atmosphere of concentration and well-being.

Uses in Aromatherapy

In the field of aromatherapy, Cypress essential oil is valued for its versatility. It is used to:

  • Promote an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility in the home or workspace.

  • Help create a feeling of revitalization and energy when the environment feels heavy.

  • Complement meditation or yoga practices, thanks to its aroma that supports concentration.

  • Aromatize the environment, offering a natural alternative to synthetic air fresheners, with an essence that evokes the purity of nature.

Directions for Use

Cypress essential oil is a concentrated product and, as such, should be used with caution and following appropriate instructions:

  • Diffusion: Add 5-8 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser to purify the environment and enjoy its fresh aroma. Ideal for study, work, or resting spaces.

  • Topical Application: Dilute 1 drop of Cypress with 1-2 drops of a carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil or Young Living's V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex) and apply to the desired area, such as the chest, neck, or temples. Perform a patch test on a small skin area before general application.

  • Aromatic Bath: Add 4-5 drops of Cypress essential oil, previously diluted in one tablespoon of carrier oil or Epsom salts, to warm bathwater for a relaxing and aromatic experience.

  • Massage: Incorporate diluted Cypress oil in a carrier oil into your massages for a comforting sensation.

Synergies

Cypress essential oil blends harmoniously with other essential oils, creating complex and pleasant aromatic mixtures. Some popular synergies include:

  • With Citrus Oils: Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit for an uplifting and energizing aroma.

  • With Woody Oils: Cedarwood, Pine, Sandalwood to enhance earthy and deep notes.

  • With Floral Oils: Lavender, Geranium to add a soft and balanced touch.

  • With Herbaceous Oils: Peppermint, Rosemary for a refreshing and stimulating effect.

Precautions

Although essential oils are natural products, their high concentration requires careful use:

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • If you are pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult a health professional before use.

  • Avoid direct contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.

  • Perform a patch test on a small skin area before applying broadly, especially if you have sensitive skin.

  • Do not ingest directly. Only Young Living's Plus line oils are formulated for internal use.

  • Store in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to preserve its integrity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Cypress and other woody oils?

Cypress oil has a fresh, woody, and slightly balsamic aromatic profile, with more resinous notes than other woody oils such as Cedarwood (sweeter and softer) or Pine (more penetrating and camphoraceous). Its particular aroma is sought after for its ability to evoke a feeling of cleanliness and renewal.

Can Cypress oil be applied directly to the skin?

It is not recommended to apply pure essential oils directly to the skin without dilution. It is essential to dilute Cypress oil with a carrier oil (such as Young Living's V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or coconut, jojoba, or almond oil) before topical application to avoid potential skin irritation, especially on sensitive skin.

Is Cypress oil suitable for internal use?

This Cypress essential oil has not been formulated or labeled for internal use. Essential oils are designed for aromatic and topical use. For internal use, Young Living offers its Plus line of oils, which are specifically certified for this purpose.

How can I tell if my Cypress oil is of good quality?

Look for essential oils from reputable brands like Young Living, which guarantee purity and quality through rigorous processes like their Seed to Seal commitment. Pay attention to the botanical origin, extraction method (generally steam distillation), and absence of additives or fillers on the label.

Extremely poor quality topped by equally poor service

Extremely poor quality topped by equally poor service – A.H. Beard, you guys are the worst. My claim has been pending for over a year now and we keep going in circles. Let me tell you my next step, I am going to report you to NT consumer and then I am going to go in NT tribunal court and will serve you and the owner with legal notice based on your ASIC ownership records. Going to tribunal will cost me $100 which I will add back to the claim. Then you will have to fly someone out to Darwin pay for the expensive flights and accommodation because at this level each party represents themselves and later on you will understand what a cost blowout you guys had instead of simply sending someone out straight away and negotiating an agreeable fair outcome. Waited months for you to send your rep [Name Removed] and when do you send her, 6 Months down the line when we went out on holidays. Then we find out after chasing it that you guys have settled my claim with Harvey Norman for $200 for which no one bothered to tell us. Cost me $1500 to buy the mattress and gets settled for $200 without even being notified. Called yesterday, oh we will call you right back, nothing at all. I am going to give it just one week and then get ready we are going to fight it one way or another and guess what the outcome will be binding.

Great Mattress

My mother bought a King Koil Chiro Indulgent mattress and Ergomotion base in 2014 and had it for 9 years. It was an excellent bed. She sold it when she sold the house to move somewhere smaller. She regretted selling the bed and bought another King Koil, double not queen this time, which she is very happy with to this day. When she had the original bed I would sometimes sleep with her when I visited from interstate. It was so comfortable and such a deep-sleep experience I am considering replacing my exie Italian bed with a King Koil. Buying a bed is an extremely difficult choice to make - particularly now that my husband and I are in our late 60's and 70's and our bodies are less forgiving of bad sleep.

Warranty claim a waste of time

We bought this King Koil 'Comfort Plus' medium QB mattress from Forty Winks Bundaberg in September 2023. I have to say, Forty Winks Bundaberg have been great. I chose King Koil based on one I bought about 25 years ago, which I loved. No wonder they're in administration. At least a year ago I noticed that the mattress was sagging on both sides with depressions where we lay. I decided to make a warranty claim as it was guaranteed for ten years but that was a total waste of time. After sending a multitude of photos and answering numerous questions the claim was refused, even though the depressions exceeded the 40mm requirement. So disappointed with the mattress and their 'non-existent' warranty. Next stop, the ACCC.

Mattress sagged after 8 years

$2650 mattress still sag after 8 years, my other $600 mattress is still going strong without sagging after 8 years too. Inspector was putting a heavy metal bar to measure the sag only on one point of the mattress and said the mattress is in great condition because the sagging is 15mm which is under 40mm. That is without anything on the mattress, it already sags for 15 mm, imagine what if a real person laying on it. Customer service is helpless. Initially I was thinking 8 years, the mattress is not very bad, but when I see my $600 mattress, I cannot accept it, I am aftering a new mattress, but definitely not for King Koil AGAIN.

Terrible mattress.

King Koil Chiro Resolve King Mattress – Purchased a king koil Chiro Resolve Medium KB Mattress. Within a couple of days our bodies started to hurt. Shoulder pain, stiffness in the entire body and also extreme lower back pain. Contacted forty winks at DFO Essendon on the turf day after delivery who in turn lodged a call to A H Beard. Their customer service is appalling. They expect me to sleep in it for a minimum of 90 days for the mattress to settle. If it’s a firm mattress, I understand but this mattress is extremely soft and sinks in. Forty winks is just as bad, asking us to take photos of us sleeping in the bed. I just need a damn refund, what is that so difficult for these people? Consumers wouldn’t be so unhappy with their products if the quality and workmanship were to standards and not some cheap shoddy work. Will be heading down to forty winks at DFO yet again to fight my case or else will take this further to consumer affairs as it’s affecting our health extremely. Never again a king koil mattress.

Regret buying a King Koil mattress

I really regret buying a King Koil mattress. From the first night, it honestly felt like sleeping on a rock. No give, no comfort—just hard and uncomfortable to the point where I couldn’t get a proper night’s sleep at all. Customer service made it even more frustrating. They were nice enough on the phone, but nothing ever actually happened. They’d say they were going to send an email, but they never even asked for my email address… so I don’t know how that was supposed to work. Of course, no email ever came. I’d call back, explain everything again, and get the same promise—“we’ll email you”—and then nothing. This went on for days. It just felt like going in circles with no real follow-through. In the end, I returned it because it was that bad—I literally couldn’t sleep on it. If customer service had actually followed through, I probably would have tried to sort something out or look at a remake, but there’s a big difference between saying you’ll do something and actually doing it. I also made the mistake of reading the reviews after I bought it and thinking, “nah, that won’t be me, I’ll be one of the lucky ones.” Turns out the reviews are true—and you probably won’t be one of the lucky ones either. Wouldn’t recommend.

Terrible experience with AH Beard

I had a terrible experience with AH Beard and the seller 40 Winks Hawthorn. When the mattress I had purchased arrived to my home, it felt very different to the model I had tried in the store's display showroom. It had been newly manufactured (which I had been advised about and was happy to wait for), but it was a MUCH firmer mattress than the store display model. Even though it was supposedly a chirocare mattress, it actually hurt my back. Let me be 100% clear, it wasn't just firmer because it was new. It actually felt completely different to the instore sample. I went into the store again after receiving it and checked the display model again. The mattress also smelt horribly of chemicals and glues which did not fade, even after several weeks. I could not sleep on the mattress. The after-care service from Forty Winks Hawthorn was non-existent. The seller just forwarded my email on to the mattress company (AH Beard), and they had formulaic and unhelpful answers, saying no one else had complained (same script as the store). However, when I did further research I discovered that the mattress company and the mattress I purchased were connected to many negative experiences for customers, and their issues were often similar to mine. There was no accountability taken by the maker AH Beard nor by the store Forty Winks Hawthorn. I ended up giving the mattress away and lost $1400+ delivery fee $160 (it was originally valued at $3500 which I now suspect was some sort of disingenuous marketing ploy). It was a distressing experience on many levels for me. I invite you to please read my review carefully as I am writing it to prevent other people experiencing what I went through. This is an untrustworthy and unpleasant company to do business with. At the very least check reviews of your mattress' manufacturer on sites like Product Review prior to purchase. Also check about refunds and exchanges prior to purchase, and get the agreements in writing re the costs and be aware of any
