Discover Common Sense: Natural Clarity and Focus

The Common Sense essential oil blend from Young Living has been carefully formulated to support mental clarity and concentration. In a world full of distractions, finding a moment of peace and focus can be crucial. This aromatic synergy aims to provide an environment conducive to study or any activity that requires a serene and attentive mind.

Since its origins, Young Living has strived to select the purest and highest quality essential oils, and Common Sense is no exception. Each component of this blend has been chosen for its aromatic properties and its potential to create an atmosphere that invites calmness and mental acuity.

Botanical Origin and Unmatched Purity

Detailed Composition of Essential Oils

  • Frankincense (Boswellia carterii): Obtained from the resin of the frankincense tree, it is valued for its deep and meditative aroma, traditionally associated with calm and spirituality.

  • Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata): With its exotic and floral fragrance, ylang ylang is known for its relaxing qualities and may help reduce feelings of stress.

  • Ocotea (Ocotea quixos): A less common oil, with a warm, slightly spicy aroma that contributes to the complexity and uniqueness of the blend.

  • Basil (Ocimum basilicum): Its fresh, herbaceous aroma is invigorating and is associated with supporting concentration and reducing mental fatigue.

  • Lime (Citrus aurantifolia): The bright, citrusy touch of lime brings a feeling of freshness and energy, uplifting the mood.

  • Peppermint (Mentha piperita): Known for its stimulating aroma and sensation, peppermint is a popular choice for promoting concentration and clarity.

  • Rue (Ruta graveolens): With a strong, herbaceous aroma, it is used in perfumery and for its distinctive aromatic properties that add a complex earthy note.

Aromatic Profile: A Symphony for the Senses

The aromatic profile of Common Sense is an intriguing blend of fresh, citrusy, floral, and earthy notes. At first, the cheerful and stimulating notes of lime and peppermint are perceived, giving way to the spicy warmth of ocotea and basil. Ylang ylang adds a floral sweetness, while frankincense and rue anchor the fragrance with their deep, resinous undertones. The result is a balanced and sophisticated aroma that may help evoke a sense of harmony and focus.

Uses in Aromatherapy: Empowering the Mind

Common Sense is designed to be an ally in the pursuit of mental clarity and concentration. Its complex aromatic composition makes it suitable for various scenarios where a supportive environment for the mind is sought:

  • Study and Focused Work: May help create an environment conducive to focusing on tasks that require prolonged attention.

  • Meditation: The deep aroma and meditative notes of frankincense, combined with calming elements, can complement meditation practices.

  • Moments of Calm: When a space is needed to clear the mind and gain perspective, the blend offers an aromatic experience that promotes serenity.

  • Emotional Balance: Although not promoted as a treatment, many users find that certain aromas can contribute to a general sense of emotional well-being.

Suggested Usage Instructions

To enjoy the aromatic qualities of Common Sense, it is recommended to use it via diffusion or topical application, always with caution and following safety guidelines.

  • Diffusion: Add 3-5 drops to your essential oil diffuser. Diffuse in your study space, office, or living room to create an environment that promotes clarity and concentration. Intermittent diffusion cycles are often optimal.

  • Topical Application: Dilute 1-2 drops of Common Sense with 4 parts of a quality carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil). Apply to the back of the neck, temples, soles of the feet, or pulse points. Always perform a patch test on a small skin area to ensure tolerance.

  • Direct Inhalation: For a quick burst of revitalization, inhale directly from the bottle or apply a drop to a tissue and inhale gently.

Synergies and Aromatic Combinations

Common Sense can be combined with other essential oils to create personalized aromatic experiences that enhance its qualities or add new dimensions:

  • With citrus oils (lemon, orange): To enhance fresh and energizing notes, ideal for awakening the mind.

  • With woody oils (cedarwood, sandalwood): To add depth and an even more earthy base, favoring deep meditation.

  • With lavender: If a balance between focus and gentle relaxation is sought, especially useful at night.

  • With eucalyptus or rosemary: To intensify the sensation of clear breathing and mental revitalization.

Important Usage Precautions

Essential oils are powerful concentrates and should be used with respect and care. It is essential to follow the following precautions for safe use of Common Sense:

  • Dilution: Always dilute Common Sense with a carrier oil before topical application to avoid skin irritation, especially on sensitive skin.

  • Sensitivity Test: Before widespread use, apply a small, diluted amount to an inconspicuous skin area to rule out allergic reactions.

  • Avoid Sensitive Areas: Do not apply undiluted oil to the skin, or near the eyes, mucous membranes, or delicate areas.

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare professional before using this product if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on medication.

  • Children: Keep out of reach of children. Use in children should always be under adult supervision and with very high dilution.

  • Photosensitivity: Lime is a photosensitive oil. Avoid direct sun exposure or UV rays for at least 12 hours after topical application to exposed skin areas.

  • Storage: Store the bottle in a cool, dark place, away from direct light and heat, to preserve the integrity of the oils.

  • Internal Use: This product is designed for aromatic and topical use. Ingestion is not recommended unless specifically indicated by a qualified professional and a suitable product for internal use.

Caution

Young Living does not allow selling oils on Amazon, EBay and the like. It has been reported that these oils are often cut with carrier oils or water and a new cap put on. Why risk it?

Don't put underneath anything hanging on the wall

This smells nice, I like the lavender smell in my house. It started off really strong, but now when I come home its just a faint lavender aroma. I'm a little torn, cause I expected this to keep giving a strong smell, but I do like the more after thought aroma that this provides. I also can't tell what the heating cycle is on this thing. There's not really any info in the packaging regarding what you should expect. After a few days of having it plugged in I did find oil on the outside of the container, so this may make a little mess if left unattended. UPDATE: Do NOT put underneath anything on the wall! The amount of oil it puts out WILL damage things. It puts out enough oil for it to collect on stuff above it and drip back down. Ruined the paint underneath our cabinet

Outdated

These diffusers are really outdated compared to newer diffusers on the market. The scent and amount goes very quickly once plugged in to electric socket 2-3 days average. You are unable to adjust the amount of diffuser released.

Do not last

Only lasted a week. Zero stars if I could give it that!

Pass--no effects whatsoever

I have a lot of Young Living oils and other products they make and I swear by the majority of them as I can see benefits with usage. This one I really couldn't though. It seemed to have no effects for me. I even tried it in my diffuser and nothing. I wouldn't buy this particular type again.
