Description

What is Young Living's Transformation Blend?

Young Living's Transformation blend is a carefully crafted aromatic synergy intended to support individuals seeking to initiate positive changes in their lives, foster inner reflection, and set new goals. Its olfactive profile, which combines citrus, fresh, and woody notes, is designed to create an atmosphere of clarity, focus, and optimism, making it an ideal companion during periods of introspection and personal planning.

This complex formula was especially valued by D. Gary Young, Young Living's founder, who firmly believed in its ability to inspire and motivate people to release burdens from the past and embrace a renewed perspective. It is an olfactive tool meant to accompany you in your goal-setting sessions, meditation, or any activity requiring a clear mind and a positive spirit.

Main Aromatic Composition

The Transformation blend is composed of nine high-quality essential oils, selected for their complementary aromatic properties and their ability to promote a positive environment. While the exact formula is proprietary to Young Living, it is known to contain:

  • Lemon (Citrus limon): Known for its fresh, clean, and invigorating aroma, traditionally associated with purification and mood elevation.
  • Peppermint (Mentha piperita): Offers a fresh and stimulating note that may help improve concentration and revitalize the senses.
  • Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens): Valued for its woody, sweet, and slightly smoky aroma, traditionally used for energetic cleansing and meditation.
  • Other essential oils that contribute to its complex and balanced profile.

This combination generates a unique fragrance that can be both uplifting and grounding, ideal for workspaces, study areas, or personal reflection.

Aromatic Profile and Olfactory Experience

The Transformation blend offers an intriguing and multifaceted aromatic profile:

  • Top notes: Predominantly citrus and fresh tones, mainly from lemon and peppermint, provide an initial feeling of lightness and clarity.
  • Middle and base notes: The woody and slightly sweet qualities of Palo Santo emerge, along with other woods or resins, providing depth, warmth, and an earthy anchor.

The overall aroma is described by many as inspiring, purifying, and inviting introspection. It is a fragrance that may help create an environment of calm and focus, facilitating decision-making and visualizing future goals.

Potential Uses in Aromatherapy and Wellness

While essential oils do not cure or diagnose, the Transformation blend may be used in aromatherapy to:

  • Support an environment of concentration and mental clarity when studying or working on important projects.
  • Motivate personal reflection and the setting of intentions or goals.
  • Help create an atmosphere that invites letting go of limiting thoughts or emotions from the past.
  • Promote a sense of optimism and a renewed perspective for new challenges.
  • Support meditation or mindfulness practices, helping to center the mind.

Suggested Use

The versatility of the Transformation blend allows for various applications:

  • Diffusion: Add 5-8 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser to purify and uplift the atmosphere in your home or office. It is ideal for creating an inspiring workspace or a meditation nook.
  • Topical application: Dilute 1-2 drops with 10 ml of a carrier oil (such as Young Living's V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex, fractionated coconut oil, or jojoba oil) and apply to the back of the neck, temples, wrists, or pulse points. Always perform a patch test on a small area of skin before more extensive application.
  • Direct inhalation: Place 1-2 drops in the palms of your hands, rub gently, and inhale the aroma deeply, or apply to a tissue and inhale occasionally.

It is recommended to start with a smaller amount and adjust according to personal preferences and sensitivity.

Recommended Synergies and Combinations

The Transformation blend can be combined with other essential oils to enhance certain properties or create additional aromatic profiles:

  • With Frankincense or Myrrh: To intensify meditative and grounding properties.
  • With Valor or Abundance: To foster a sense of empowerment and manifestation.
  • With additional citrus oils such as Orange or Bergamot: For an extra boost of vitality and joy.

Short but provacative

David Herlihy's revisionist work, The Black Death and the Transformation of the West, would have inevitably been cached away and forgotten; a fate that most miscellaneous intellectual writings face when their authors pass away. Luckily for historians, Herlihy's work, consisting of three unpublished essays about the Black Death, has survived intact and in many ways has been improved upon by Professor Samuel K. Cohn's authoritative analysis. As Cohn's extremely helpful, albeit critical introduction explains, Herlihy's perception of the Black Death and its direct effect on the development of Western civilization was shaped by the ever-shifting environment of modern intellectual thought and his own personal observations. In this, Herlihy's The Black Death and the Transformation of the West, reflects the historiographical truth that was captured by a fellow medievalist: "the knowledge of the present bears even more immediately upon the understanding of the past." (Bloch, 45)

A nice, short interesting read

This book is essentially a collection of 3 essays made from the notes of David Herlihy and published posthumously. The essays describe the medical, economic and cultural effects of the Black Death on Europe. Overall, it was a nice, short interesting read. I did not have any previous detailed understanding of the plague and would recommend it to anyone interested in an overview and interesting perspective on the subject.

a re-examination of the Black Death

Published post-humously (Herlihy died in 1991), this is essentially three lectures concerning first the epidemiology of the plague of 1347 - 1349, the economic effects of the plague, and its social consequences. While none of the lectures (about 20 pages each) go into tremendous depth, they do raise some interesting questions.
